How much time a day do you sit? > Vitality
Today, after all the festivities, the Netherlands starts working again.
But did you know that Dutch adults sit/lay down on average 43 percent of every day (excluding sleeping time).
On an average school or working day, this is 7.1 hours per day. But on a day off or at the weekend, we are much more active.
Then we sit/lie down for an average of only 4.8 hours per day. This is 29 percent excluding sleep time.
Young people can also do something about it: on an average school/work day they sit/lie down for an average of 8.1 hours per 24 hours (excluding sleep time). That's a whopping 59 percent of the time they're awake!
Fortunately, on an average day off, it is only 4.3 hours per day.
It should be noted that young people sleep proportionally more hours than adults, which influences the percentages for sedentary behaviour.
How many hours a day do you sit, just keep track of it.
