Monday Master blog: What if your own thoughts are the key to a happier life?
We often talk about the content of training, coaching and achieving goals. But how does it actually work, working on your goals, and how much influence do we have on that ourselves? An interesting aspect in this is happiness.
Why do we strive to be happy, and what does that have to do with coaching? The desire for happiness often motivates us to go and do sports and actively work on our goals.
Our brains contain approximately 100 billion nerve cells that connect to each other to receive and transmit information.
If we repeat an experience often, fixed patterns form in our behavior, while unused connections slowly disappear.
This process is called neuroplasticity, and it is influenced by what we do, think and experience.
In this way, it shapes us into who we are. So you have influence on your own thoughts, actions and experiences.
Happiness is also included here; you can “train” happiness by focusing on the positive aspects of life. There is always a silver lining – sometimes you just have to learn to look at things differently.
Make it a habit, and you will notice that you become happier. Focus on what makes you happy, think more positively, be less strict with yourself and experience genuine happiness.
We often do not do this automatically, because it is easier to see obstacles and negative points. And yes, we all do that! The trick is to switch to the positive at such a moment.
This ability to “think differently” is important to achieve your goals and experience happiness. That is why we also include this in the coaching during personal training.
