Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Bulgaria again. There I was welcomed by Krasimir Ininski, President of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, Ivan Peshev, Minister of Youth and Sports, Stefka Kostadinova, President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, and Belcho Goranov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
I am glad that the Bulgarian Boxing Federation has decided to apply for World Boxing and I look forward to a strong partnership in safeguarding the Olympic Dreams of boxers worldwide.
Bulgaria has a rich boxing history and has proven to be a reliable host of many important boxing events.
It stages one of the most prestigious and oldest international tournaments in our sport, the Strandja Memorial.
We look forward to hosting its 77th edition next year under World Boxing auspices.
I’d like to express my gratitude to the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the National Olympic Committee for the warm reception and productive meetings in Sofia.
Let’s work together to shape a better future for Olympic-style boxing!
