Introduction
Born in 1968. Marco lives in Hoevelaken (central in the Netherlands) with Annemieke and our 2 daughters. During the week Zeeuw & Zeeuw is his hobby, in the weekend he runs and he gets satisfaction from cooking on a Bastard. After his studies, he rolled into the automotive industry and always stayed in it with great pleasure. Not a real car nut, but crazy about the dynamic automotive industry.
Early life and education
Grew up in Hoevelaken, from there studied at the HEAO in Utrecht in the direction of Business Economics. He then followed an MBA program at the Business School Netherlands in Buren from 2003 to 2005 during his work at Renault Netherlands.
Career trajectory
He started at Pon's Automobielhandel (a major Dutch player in the automotive industry) in 1995. After this learning period he made the switch to Renault Netherlands in 1999 for which he was mainly responsible for the reorganization of the dealer organizations of Renault and Nissan (HUB strategy). Worked as ICT director for one year with the mission to sell the ICT department of Renault Netherlands to Renault Belgium. Finally, he was Sales Manager of Renault/Dacia for more than 3 years before he made the switch to the beautiful dealer holding company Zeeuw & Zeeuw in 2012. From then until September 2023 I was Director responsible for all Renault and Dacia activities within our group (7 outlets - 170 team-members). In September 2023, the management responsibility for Nissan and Mitsubishi was added to his position within Zeeuw & Zeeuw.
Legacy and future
Zeeuw & Zeeuw invests a lot in society, which is not limited to the Netherlands. Well-known examples are a professional skating team (Team IKO), short track speed skating youth (led by Avalon Aardoom), Zeeuw & Zeeuw Feyenoord Basketball, Leiden Marathon and a number of other local initiatives. It is often about the fact that these types of teams do not have mobility, which Zeeuw & Zeeuw then takes care of. The most recent example of social involvement across the border of the Netherlands takes place in Sierra Leone. There, Zeeuw & Zeeuw, together with the Sunday Foundation (Sander de Kramer), has built a beautiful school to offer the so-called diamond children a future of meaning.
The automotive industry is facing a very interesting period. A period in which the traditional manufacturers but also dealer organizations have to invest more in innovation and new business models. Big data, zero emission, services and AI are rapidly emerging in the automotive industry. The trick is to respond to this in a smart way in which one business remains the same – without satisfied customers you have no future. That is why Zeeuw & Zeeuw, together with the ZZ Top Academy (an internal training institute), does everything in its power to train its employees on a daily basis in further perfecting the customer journey at Zeeuw & Zeeuw.
