Although I am no longer active in politics, my engagement with societal developments remains strong. That’s why I follow with great interest how others dedicate themselves to our city and its people. Hennie van Schaik, now the frontrunner for BVNL in the Rotterdam municipal elections, is someone who truly stands out. A natural-born politician with a heart that beats for our city. You don’t have to agree with him on everything to recognize the sincerity of his passion and commitment. He has the courage to tackle difficult conversations and address issues that many shy away from.
