Ajax celebrated its 125th anniversary in style on Tuesday evening in the Johan Cruijff ArenA

Ajax celebrated its 125th anniversary in style on Tuesday evening in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. 

Around two thousand guests (members of the association, employees, volunteers, club icons and other guests) raised their glasses to the anniversary of the Amsterdam club. 

Ajax was founded on 18 March 1900 by Floris Stempel, Han Dade and Carl Bruno Reeser. During the evening, Dick Schoenaker (honorary member) and Michael van Praag were put in the spotlight.

The Johan Cruijff ArenA was transformed into a museum for the occasion. 

Halls in the stadium were converted into the Leidseplein, Museumplein, Kalverstraat, Albert Cuypmarkt and an Amsterdam brown café. 

The entire look and feel was inspired by 125 years of Ajax and its beautiful history. The official program was opened with an ode to Ajax by singer Yves Berendse. 

To the melody of his hit 'Terug in de tijd' many Ajax highlights were played. These Ajax successes were shown on the edge of the field on a huge screen, flanked by the silverware that Ajax has won over the years.
