EU paid €132 million to media for pro-EU stories 'The European Union's unelected politicians have bought media on a large scale to influence public opinion in the run-up to the European elections.
This shocking news was shared by well-known X user Mario Nawfal, who referred to a study by Il Fatto Quotidiano. It concerns a slush fund of no less than €132 million that ended up with
media outlets in a roundabout way. According to Nawfal, the money was funneled to media outlets through a private advertising agency, Havas Media France.
This happened without any form of transparency or public tender.
The goal? Media pay to publish EU-friendly stories to influence public opinion in the run-up to the elections. In Italy, major media outlets such as Repubblica were allegedly paid directly to publish pro-EU reporting – without this being disclosed to the public. End quote. It's smart. Mainstream media saw a large part of their income disappear due to digitalization and the rapidly increasing popularity of 'social media'.
Employment was at risk and bankruptcies threatened. And suddenly there was a smart Belgian entrepreneur who knew the propaganda value of daily newspapers, and he bought the magazines. And received millions of euros for pro-EU stories. Away the hard-won journalistic independence.
Many 'woke people' are very angry about this. I do too, but at the same time I also feel sorry for the journalists of these magazines.
They are trained and prepared to be independent journalists and live a happy life. Then their little house is in danger and someone comes to save them.
At first the editorial staff felt relief, but gradually they realized that they had been secretly seduced from journalist to propagandist.
The result is enormous tension between their professional ethical values and their responsibilities as parents and grandparents on the one hand, and a good income on the other.
Well, how do you deal with this? I do have some advice for them. More and more people are realizing that the mainstream media have become propaganda machines and that social media have no journalistic competencies.
There is therefore a growing need for good, reliable journalists who can provide an independent interpretation of the news. A new 'gap in the market', which is already being filled by many digital news channels.
My advice is to switch now, if you wait too long you will be too late. Because 'paid media' is the proverbial dinosaur that is threatened with extinction.
You don't want to be dug up like a Media Saurus Rex in the future archives by your children and grandchildren, do you?
