Thank you, Claude EREPMOC, for sharing these insights! 🙏
Over the summer, I embraced a "monk mode" approach, fully disconnecting to focus on deep work and personal renewal. 🌱
I’ve decided to keep it as a monthly ritual to help prioritize what truly matters and avoid burnout. 💪
The strategies here, especially around setting boundaries and embracing recovery, are key to maintaining this balance. ⚖️
I’m always working in my head, even when I’m not – and it’s exhausting!
I found this HBR article, A Workaholic's Guide to Reclaiming Your Life and the 6 strategies it proposes were beneficial:
1. Redefine "Urgent" ⏳: Not everything is urgent. Look back at tasks to see what really needed immediate attention.
2. Reinvent Your To-Do List 📝: Use tools like the Eisenhower Matrix to prioritize and focus on what truly matters.
3. Learn to Say "No" and Delegate 🙅♀️🤝: Set boundaries and delegate tasks that don’t align with your personal or professional goals.
4. Fix the Workaholic Clock ⏰: Track how long tasks actually take to avoid overcommitting.
5. Control Rumination 🧘♂️: Use mindfulness and self-reflection to prevent work from taking over your mind during downtime.
6. Embrace Rest and Recovery 🌿💤: Prioritize rest through physical activity, relaxation, and detaching from work to combat burnout.
If you have 11 minutes, I was particularly impressed by the tips in the TED Talk, An ER Doctor on Triaging Your Crazy Busy Life – definitely worth a watch! 🎥✨
