The show quickly became the highest-rated talk show in the United States, running for 25 years until 2011. Oprah's success extended to acting, with an Oscar-nominated role in "The Color Purple" (1985), and to production, founding Harpo Productions in 1986. She launched the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in 2011, expanding her media empire.
